Tijn Teuwsen new owner Bestboats International Yachtbroker in Roermond

Since 1 January this year, Tijn Teuwsen has been the proud owner of Bestboats International Yachtbroker in Roermond. He has taken over the company from founder Arie Drenth who managed Bestboats for more than 25 years. Bestboats' direction remains unchanged, explains Tijn Teuwsen. "We have built a name for ourselves as a yacht broker in the young used luxury motor yacht segment. We will continue to focus on that. With the same team and the same attention and service, we will ensure a flawless buying and selling process."
           
Tijn Teuwsen studied Nautical Business Management at IVA Business School in Driebergen. He started as a sales trainee at Bestboats in 2017, where he held the position of sales manager for the last few years. As a yacht broker, Tijn is EMCI-certified and may call himself HISWA Qualified Yacht Broker. He is a member of the NBMS (Dutch Association of Ship Brokers). In addition to his role as director-owner, Tijn remains responsible for sales within Bestboats. 
 
To celebrate this acquisition, Bestboats is organising a "Bestboats 2024 Kick-off" at its sales marina in Roermond on Saturday 18 May. Everyone is welcome that day between 12 and 5pm to view Bestboats' yacht offerings in a relaxed atmosphere. An official handover moment between Arie Drenth and Tijn Teuwsen will also take place that day.

Bestboats International Yachtbroker specialises in selling young used motor yachts from its own sales marina in Roermond. The focus is on luxury motor yachts from renowned yacht builders with a length from 10 metres. 
In addition, Bestboats is the exclusive Benelux dealer for Riviera Yachts and Pirelli Speedboats. These dealerships are housed in the company Bestboats Exclusive Motoryachts owned by Arie Drenth.

The Purchase Process: How Does It Work?

If you are working with a yacht broker for the first time, it’s helpful to understand how the purchase process works and what you can expect from us.

Orientation and Making an Offer

Do you have a yacht in mind? You can schedule a viewing without obligation to determine if the yacht meets your expectations. A technical inspection is not necessary at this stage. 

Based on your impression, you can make an offer. We act as an intermediary and negotiate on your behalf with the yacht's owner.

Price Agreement and Purchase Agreement

Once we have agreed on the price, we will draw up a purchase agreement. This usually includes a clause making the purchase subject to a survey by an expert. 

When signing the agreement, we request a 10% deposit. This amount will be held in a secure third-party escrow account.

Survey and Finalization

An expert will carry out a comprehensive survey of the yacht. If any issues are found, the seller will resolve them or compensation will be offered if you prefer to handle the repairs yourself. 

If the issues are too significant, you can cancel the purchase.

Final Payment and Delivery

Once the issues are resolved and you are satisfied, you pay the remaining 90%. This amount will also be securely held in the third-party escrow account. Once you confirm that the yacht meets your expectations, you will sign the delivery document. 

Only then will the funds be released to the seller, and we will schedule the official handover.

Handover and Transfer

Together, we will carefully review all documentation so you know exactly what you are purchasing. We will also inspect the yacht to ensure all issues have been addressed. Of course, we will provide you with explanations on the onboard equipment and key systems. 

Once everything is clear and meets your satisfaction, we will officially hand over the keys and your new boating adventure can begin.
