The best time to buy a boat

The sun is shining, you're looking out over the water and you're thinking: 'I also want a boat'. Recognisable? During the summer, many people decide to buy a boat. But is it the best time to buy a boat?
You can always buy a boat. When you buy a boat in the summer, you can enjoy it immediately. Boating holidays in the Netherlands, elsewhere abroad or day trips in your own country. With your own boat, it is possible. Have you seen our ships offer yet?
Used and new boats
Do you want to get into the water next boating season? Or do you already have a yacht and do you want to orientate on the market for a longer period of time? Please note that the best time to buy a boat differs for new and used boats.
  • Used boat: end of season
    After the summer, there are often more used boats for sale in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Do not be tempted to make a hasty choice. Use the autumn to get your bearings. Have you signed the purchase contract? No problem, in the winter you still have enough time for possible adjustments, maintenance and paperwork. So you are well prepared for the water.
  • New boat: November or December
    Are you interested in a new boat? Then make sure you start buying in November and December. This way you have enough time to have your new boat adapted to your personal wishes before the new sailing season starts.

The Purchase Process: How Does It Work?

If you are working with a yacht broker for the first time, it’s helpful to understand how the purchase process works and what you can expect from us.

Orientation and Making an Offer

Do you have a yacht in mind? You can schedule a viewing without obligation to determine if the yacht meets your expectations. A technical inspection is not necessary at this stage. 

Based on your impression, you can make an offer. We act as an intermediary and negotiate on your behalf with the yacht's owner.

Price Agreement and Purchase Agreement

Once we have agreed on the price, we will draw up a purchase agreement. This usually includes a clause making the purchase subject to a survey by an expert. 

When signing the agreement, we request a 10% deposit. This amount will be held in a secure third-party escrow account.

Survey and Finalization

An expert will carry out a comprehensive survey of the yacht. If any issues are found, the seller will resolve them or compensation will be offered if you prefer to handle the repairs yourself. 

If the issues are too significant, you can cancel the purchase.

Final Payment and Delivery

Once the issues are resolved and you are satisfied, you pay the remaining 90%. This amount will also be securely held in the third-party escrow account. Once you confirm that the yacht meets your expectations, you will sign the delivery document. 

Only then will the funds be released to the seller, and we will schedule the official handover.

Handover and Transfer

Together, we will carefully review all documentation so you know exactly what you are purchasing. We will also inspect the yacht to ensure all issues have been addressed. Of course, we will provide you with explanations on the onboard equipment and key systems. 

Once everything is clear and meets your satisfaction, we will officially hand over the keys and your new boating adventure can begin.
