Safety on board with gas and electricity

A safe installation, use and periodic maintenance of gas and electricity on board your yacht is important. This way you will prevent accidents. We have listed what you should know about gas and electricity on board.
Use of gas
Is your yacht equipped with a gas system? Then use propane or butane. Always place the gas bottle outside and upright in a gas tank. Also store empty gas cylinders safely in a cabinet or gas tank. Are you leaving the vessel or no longer use gas appliances, such as the heating? Then make sure the gas bottle is closed. Always ensure that there is sufficient ventilation on board. This will prevent condensation or carbon monoxide on board. We advise you to have the gas hose inspected every three years by a water sports organisation with the 'Gas Technology Certificate'. For this purpose Bestboats International Yachtbroker cooperates with a certified partner in the region.
Use of electricity
To prevent fire or other damage, it is also recommended to regularly check the electrical equipment on board. For example, check that all connections work properly and that the cabling is in good order. Also check the liquid level in the batteries regularly and fill up if necessary. Also check whether there is enough fresh air in the battery room.

The Purchase Process: How Does It Work?

If you are working with a yacht broker for the first time, it’s helpful to understand how the purchase process works and what you can expect from us.
1

Orientation and Making an Offer

Do you have a yacht in mind? You can schedule a viewing without obligation to determine if the yacht meets your expectations. A technical inspection is not necessary at this stage.

Based on your impression, you can make an offer. We act as an intermediary and negotiate on your behalf with the yacht's owner.
2

Price Agreement and Purchase Agreement

Once we have agreed on the price, we will draw up a purchase agreement. This usually includes a clause making the purchase subject to a survey by an expert.

When signing the agreement, we request a 10% deposit. This amount will be held in a secure third-party escrow account.

3

Survey and Finalization

An expert will carry out a comprehensive survey of the yacht. If any issues are found, the seller will resolve them or compensation will be offered if you prefer to handle the repairs yourself.

If the issues are too significant, you can cancel the purchase.
4

Final Payment and Delivery

Once the issues are resolved and you are satisfied, you pay the remaining 90%. This amount will also be securely held in the third-party escrow account. Once you confirm that the yacht meets your expectations, you will sign the delivery document.

Only then will the funds be released to the seller, and we will schedule the official handover.
5

Handover and Transfer

Together, we will carefully review all documentation so you know exactly what you are purchasing. We will also inspect the yacht to ensure all issues have been addressed. Of course, we will provide you with explanations on the onboard equipment and key systems.

Once everything is clear and meets your satisfaction, we will officially hand over the keys and your new boating adventure can begin.
