How do I prepare my yacht for sale?

You have made the decision: you are going to sell your yacht. But how do you prepare it for sale? In this article we will give you some tips. This way you can be sure of a quick and successful sales result!

The first impression counts
Think back to the moment you bought your yacht. How did it look then? Try to bring your yacht back to its original state as much as possible before the sale. Remove personal belongings, make sure it is clean and tidy and see if any repairs need to be made. If you sell your yacht from our sales marina and boat showroom, we will take this work off your hands. Our team will make sure that your yacht looks its best and is in good technical order. After all, a good first impression is an important step towards a successful sale!

Paperwork in order
It is important that your paperwork is in order. Collect all documents that have to do with your yacht. Not only the sales contract, but also invoices and manuals of equipment on board. Also make sure you have a clear overview of maintenance work that has been carried out. Make a list of all items that are or are not included in the price. The more details, the better. That way, no one will be confronted with surprises.

The Purchase Process: How Does It Work?

If you are working with a yacht broker for the first time, it’s helpful to understand how the purchase process works and what you can expect from us.

Orientation and Making an Offer

Do you have a yacht in mind? You can schedule a viewing without obligation to determine if the yacht meets your expectations. A technical inspection is not necessary at this stage. 

Based on your impression, you can make an offer. We act as an intermediary and negotiate on your behalf with the yacht's owner.

Price Agreement and Purchase Agreement

Once we have agreed on the price, we will draw up a purchase agreement. This usually includes a clause making the purchase subject to a survey by an expert. 

When signing the agreement, we request a 10% deposit. This amount will be held in a secure third-party escrow account.

Survey and Finalization

An expert will carry out a comprehensive survey of the yacht. If any issues are found, the seller will resolve them or compensation will be offered if you prefer to handle the repairs yourself. 

If the issues are too significant, you can cancel the purchase.

Final Payment and Delivery

Once the issues are resolved and you are satisfied, you pay the remaining 90%. This amount will also be securely held in the third-party escrow account. Once you confirm that the yacht meets your expectations, you will sign the delivery document. 

Only then will the funds be released to the seller, and we will schedule the official handover.

Handover and Transfer

Together, we will carefully review all documentation so you know exactly what you are purchasing. We will also inspect the yacht to ensure all issues have been addressed. Of course, we will provide you with explanations on the onboard equipment and key systems. 

Once everything is clear and meets your satisfaction, we will officially hand over the keys and your new boating adventure can begin.
